Boroughly is a hyperlocal news and events service for Chiswick, Fulham and Barnes, operated from London. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect and why. We keep it minimal: we don’t run advertising, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you across the web.
What we collect
- Your email address — if you subscribe to the morning digest or create an account. We use it to send the email you asked for and, for accounts, to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Your name and date of birth — when you create a membership, to personalise your account and confirm you’re old enough to join. We keep these to ourselves; they’re never shown to other members or used for advertising.
- Your postcode and (optionally) address — when you join, to confirm you live in one of our boroughs. We check it against Royal Mail’s address file via a licensed provider; we store the borough and, if you choose to pick it, your address line.
- Event suggestions — if you submit an event, what you send us (and an optional contact email so we can check it).
- On your device only — your chosen borough and saved articles are stored on your phone, not sent to us.
- Basic technical data — anonymous error reports and aggregate usage, to keep the service working.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of trusted processors to run the service, each handling data only on our instructions: Resend (sending email), Ideal Postcodes (address lookup), Neon (database) and Vercel (hosting), Mapbox (maps), and Sentry (error monitoring). Our articles are drafted with AI assistance (Anthropic) from public sources only — your personal data is never sent to it. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from the digest at any time using the link in any email. You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the data we hold about you, and to stop using it. Just email hello@boroughly.co.uk and we’ll sort it out. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Children
Boroughly isn’t intended for under-16s, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes & contact
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above. Questions? Email hello@boroughly.co.uk.
