New herb and veg planters at Raleigh Road Green Hub need a water

14 August 2026 · By Boroughly editorial — AI-assisted, human-reviewed.

Two new community planters have gone in at the Green Hub at Raleigh Road Recreation Ground in Twickenham — one filled with herbs, the other with vegetables — and they are open for everyone to enjoy.

The planters are part of the growing Green Hub project run by Habitats & Heritage, and anyone passing the recreation ground is welcome to help themselves to herbs and, when the time comes, to harvest the vegetables.

Right now, though, the planters need a little looking after. The warmer weeks mean they need regular watering, and Habitats & Heritage are asking neighbours and passers-by to pitch in when they can. If you do not have a watering can, they will supply one free of charge — just drop them a line at hello@habitatsandheritage.org.uk to arrange it.

Looking ahead, Habitats & Heritage also have a wildflower plug-planting evening coming up next month, which is worth keeping an eye out for if you enjoy getting your hands in the soil.

Full details are on the council's news page.
