A handful of smaller items worth knowing about this week:
- French conversation group, Saturday 5 September: Live Languages holds its next informal French session at ETNA Community Centre, 13 Rosslyn Road, Twickenham, from 11.30am to 12.30pm. All levels welcome, tea and croissants provided, and donations go towards the centre. Free parking on site or in nearby streets. Contact infolivelanguages@gmail.com for more. Full details here.
- Trustee recruitment evening, Wednesday 14 October: Richmond CVS is hosting its annual trustee recruitment event at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College (RHACC), central Richmond, from 5 to 8pm. More than 30 local charities and not-for-profit organisations will be represented, covering health, education, arts, disability and more. If you have skills or time to offer a local cause, this is a good place to explore what is available. Free to attend — book in advance. Details on the council site.
- Second Hand September: The council is encouraging residents to shop pre-loved, donate good-quality items and repair rather than replace this month. The Charity Retail Association's shop finder lists local options, and Richmond Furniture Scheme accepts furniture in good condition. Read the council's tips.
